Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Then, in 1992 she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She has covered several notable news stories throughout the years, including budget reform, tax reform, and the Iran Contra scandal. She travelled extensively together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
