Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long beach on 24 August 1972. DuVernay was raised by her Aunt Denise She encouraged DuVernay to pursue her artistic talents and be instilled by art. Aunt Denise worked the night shift as a nurse, so she could follow her passion of theater and literature in the daytime. DuVernay was first introduced to the film West Side Story by her aunt. DuVernay was instructed by her mom that art could serve as an instrument for activism.
